About Insects of DeJarnette Park

This page is a depository of insect data gathered by the BIOL 126 Insects & Humans course at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia during the summer of 2012. It features information on the biology and ecology of insect species that inhabit DeJarnette Park.

DeJarnette Park is located on Stony Run in Ashland, VA. The park is eight acres in size and bordered by residences and woods. There are parking areas on both Beverly Road and Race Course. DeJarnette Park has largely been left in its natural state. However, in 2006, the City of Ashland cleaned out the park’s one-acre pond to improve it as a fish habitat.
